Chesterfield Competitive Festival of Music & Drama (Re-launched 2010)
The 2013 Festival
The 2013 Chesterfield Music Festival took place on Saturday April 27 at Rose Hill United Reformed Church and at Elder Yard Unitarian Chapel.
Around 100 singers and instrumentalists of all ages competed in this annual festival.
Participants demonstrated their skills and talent in front of an appreciative audience and received constructive feedback from the professional adjudicators, Coral Gould and Kathryn Page. Included for a second year were drama and verse-speaking classes, adjudicated by local actor and president of the festival, John Goodrum.
An All-Winners concert was held at the end of the Festival, where four trophies were awarded.
The Trophy for ‘Instrumentalist of the Festival’ was awarded to Charlotte Hand;
The trophy for ‘Vocalist of the Festival’ (donated by Chesterfield Gilbert& Sullivan Society) was awarded to Jason Allan;
The trophy for ‘Young Performer of the Festival’ (donated by Julia Tew) was awarded to Timothy Hand;
A new trophy for ‘Most Promising singer’ was awarded to Declan Ryder.

Fund Raising Concert
The Chesterfield Co-operative Choral Society hosted a fund raising concert at the Whittington Moor Methodist Church on Friday 21st June at 7.30. This well attended concert was a very enjoyable and fun occasion and featured five young performers from this year's festival, plus a guest school choir.
Charlotte Hand, Jarna Northall, Timothy Hand, Jason Allan & Dominic Paul Coyne.
Newbold CE Primary School choir, were invited to represent the choir classes. This local school puts singing at the heart of school life and is a supporter of the festival. The festival committee would like to thank headmaster Canon David Mayo-Braiden, music teacher Mrs. Slater and the children and their parents.
