Chesterfield Competitive Festival of Music & Drama (Re-launched 2010)
Festival 2017 - Cancelled
It is with regret that the committee for the Chesterfield Competitive Festival of Music & Drama (Chesterfield Music Festival) announce that the festival scheduled for the 28th & 29th April 2017 has been cancelled. Our sadness is compounded by the recent death of our Founder and Chairperson Julia Tew who worked tirelessly to re-establish the festival in order to give local musicians and verse speakers, in particular young people, opportunities to perform and receive adjudication from experienced professionals as a part of developing their musical and dramatic talents. We offer our sincere condolences to Julia's family at this time.
As we do not receive any external funding to fund the event but rely on fund raising combined with revenue from the festival itself, we feel that the festival is not financially viable at this time. This seems reflect a nationwide trend.
We are grateful to have had the opportunity since 2010 of giving a platform to up and coming musical and dramatic talents in the Chesterfield area and hope they will continue to make music and drama. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. All monies paid will be returned.
We would like to thank all who have contributed to the festival; our wonderfully talented singers, instrumentalists, accompanists, adjudicators, music teachers, parents, local choirs, volunteers and past committee members. Thank you for your support.

Thank you for your support at the Chesterfield Library Lunchtime Concert on
April 1st. This was a
Young Performers Concert
and a tribute to the late Festival Chair Julia Tew.
Many thanks to the young performers who gave up their time to give us a wonderful concert. Also thanks to Andrew Marples and Katie Strudwick for their fine work in accompanying the performers.
Thanks again to Andrew for donating the money raised at this concert to the festival. This is very much appreciated.
Your support is very much appreciated.
