The 2012 Festival

The 2012 Chesterfield Music Festival took place on April 27 and 28 at Rose Hill United Reformed Church and at Elder Yard Unitarian Chapel.

Over 150 singers and instrumentalists of all ages took part in the competitive festival, demonstrating their skills and talent to an appreciative audience and receiving constructive feedback from the professional adjudicators: Vivien Pike, Coral Gould and Robin Mundy. Included for the first time this year were Drama and Verse-speaking classes, adjudicated by local actor and President of the Festival, John Goodrum.

An All-Winners concert was held at the end of the Festival, where four trophies were awarded.

The Trophy for ‘Instrumentalist of the Festival’ was awarded to Giedre Skieryte;

The trophy for ‘Vocalist of the Festival’ (donated by Chesterfield Gilbert& Sullivan Society) was awarded to Katie Lockwood;

The trophy of ‘Choir of the Festival’ (donated by Chesterfield Co-operative Choral Society) was awarded to Grassmoor Primary School Upper Choir;

and a new trophy for this year of ‘Young Performer of the Festival’ (donated by Julia Tew) was awarded to Charlotte Hand.
